The Rehoboth Ambulance Committee Special Operations Division provides EMS resources for special events hosted within the community. Some of these events include:
- Dighton-Rehoboth Football games
- Harvest Festival
- Tuff Scramblers
Our Special Operations Division operates GATOR-1, a modified utility vehicle capable of carrying necessary first aid equipment, including an AED, oxygen, and a backboard. This vehicle is able to manuever through crowds to allow EMTs to provide care without the need to move a large ambulance to the scene. The patient can be secured to the GATOR's backboard/stretcher and transported to the ambulance for further treatment and transport.
GATOR-1 also allows Rehoboth Ambulance to respond to special extrication and rescue situations, such as individuals lost in the woods requiring medical care, dirt bike/ATV accidents that take place in the woods, or other incidents that occur offroad (such as near the powerlines that run through town). GATOR-1 is transported in the Rehoboth Ambulance Special Operations trailer, which also contains the necessary equipment needed to treat patients at multiple patient incidents, or disaster scenes.
Rehoboth Ambulance is available to provide EMS coverage at special events within the community upon the request of the event organizers. Coverage provided will typically include:
- Four EMT's (may be a mix of EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P)
- GATOR-1, which will be operated by two of the four EMT's
- A transporting ambulance, staffed by the other two EMT's
- Additional EMT's may be available when requested ahead of time
The transporting ambulance assigned to a special event will be dedicated to that event.
